SUMMARY:Battle Royale Writing: Building Better Writers with Emoji Power Paragraph
DESCRIPTION:In this interactive session\, educators will explore how Random Emoji Power Paragraph\, Short Answer Battle Royale\, and Nacho Paragraph can be combined to create a powerful writing feedback loop that dramatically improves student writing.\n\nThe session begins with Random Emoji Power Paragraph\, an EduProtocol that lowers the barrier to writing by giving students a fun\, low-stress prompt using randomly generated emojis. Students quickly draft a short paragraph\, focusing on clear ideas and basic structure.\n\nNext\, teachers will experience Short Answer Battle Royale\, where student responses are anonymously compared and voted on. This game-based approach motivates students to think critically about what makes writing effective while providing immediate peer feedback.\n\nFinally\, participants will learn how to use Nacho Paragraph to guide students through revision. Students take the winning ideas and apply structured criteria to improve their own writing\, creating a cycle of write → compare → revise that builds confidence and writing strength over time.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n• Experience a live Emoji Power Paragraph Battle Royale as learners\n• Learn how to run the activity quickly using Short Answer AI tools\n• See how Nacho Paragraph creates a structured revision process\n• Explore how the feedback loop helps students improve writing across all subjects\n\nBy the end of the session\, teachers will leave with ready-to-use prompts\, implementation steps\, and strategies for creating a repeatable writing improvement cycle in their classrooms.\n\nThis session pairs well with “Direct Hit: Gamifying Close Reading with Annotate & Tell Battleship\,” which helps students gather and analyze evidence through competitive close reading.

SUMMARY:From Sources to Essays
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, participants will explore how the Reading Reps and 3xCER EduProtocols can be used together to help students analyze primary and secondary sources and construct strong DBQ essays. Reading Reps supports students in breaking down complex historical texts through structured rereading and discussion\, helping them identify key ideas and evidence within historical documents.\n\nParticipants will then see how 3xCER helps students transform that evidence into clear historical arguments by organizing claims\, citing evidence\, and explaining their reasoning. Using examples from a middle school U.S. history classroom\, attendees will examine how these protocols scaffold the DBQ writing process from source analysis to evidence-based argumentation.\n\nParticipants will leave with practical strategies and classroom-ready structures for helping students confidently analyze documents and write stronger DBQ essays.

We will discuss and remedy common AI concerns such as matching appropriate AI evaluation to the rigor of the assignment\, closing feedback loops\, and overcoming the "grade plateau" (where no matter how many times a student fixes an assignment\, they still cannot score a higher grade).\n\nRather than focusing on the tool itself\, this session centers on the process of crafting evaluation instructions that guide AI to deliver meaningful and actionable feedback aligned to classroom goals. The skills for training AI will be demonstrated using Snorkl as the primary tool\; however\, these skills will absolutely be transferable to any AI-integrated\, large language model system. \n\nAttendees will examine examples of weak\, generic AI feedback and compare them to refined outputs generated through intentional prompt design and AI instruction. They will learn a practical framework for shaping AI responses by defining specific criteria\, structure\, and learning outcome within their instructions. The session will include hands-on opportunities for participants to revise their own AI instructions and test how small changes significantly improve the quality of AI feedback in real-time.\n\nThis session will highlight Eduprotocols such as Thick Slides and Frayers along with annotation exercises as demonstrative examples to highlight strategies to streamline and leverage quality AI feedback instructions. Participants will explore how student thinking\, explanation\, and reflection can be amplified through Snorkl’s features.\n\nBy the end of the session\, teachers will walk away with immediately applicable strategies for using Snorkl to support formative or summative assessment\, deepen student thinking\, and provide scalable\, high-quality feedback without sacrificing their unique teaching style and voice.

SUMMARY:Navigating AI Rubrics: Leveragin the Power of AI to Meet Students Where They Are
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, participants will learn how to design rubrics using Class Companion in order to deliver differentiated instruction for diverse learners including\, but not limited to\, ESE and ESOL populations. \n\nThis session will focus on differentiation through rubric design. Essentially\, participants will learn how to use various rubric designs for a single assignment as a tool to control and guide AI grading-- ensuring that feedback reflects appropriate differentiation and teacher expectations without lowering rigor. Attendees will learn how to create multiple versions of the same rubric that maintain the same academic standard while adjusting language clarity\, structure\, and rigor to support varying student needs. This approach allows teachers to meet accommodation requirements while preserving high expectations for all learners.\n\nParticipants will engage in hands-on activities to revise existing rubric criteria\, test how changes impact AI-generated feedback\, and explore strategies for managing revision cycles and student support within Class Companion. The session will also address common pitfalls\, including overly broad criteria and over-scaffolding.\n\nThe session will highlight Eduprotocols such as Thick Slides and Cyber Sandwiches\, demonstrating how clearly defined criteria within these structures can be translated into precise\, observable rubric language. Participants will then explore how to move from vague descriptors to specific\, measurable criteria that AI can reliably evaluate\, improving both the accuracy and usefulness of automated feedback.\n\nBy the end of the session\, teachers will leave with concrete strategies for leveraging Class Companion's rubric control to streamline grading\, enhance feedback quality\, and implement meaningful differentiation that is both manageable and effective in everyday classroom practice.

SUMMARY:Navigatin AI Feedback: Training AI to Think (and Grade) Like You
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, participants will learn how to design and structure AI feedback using Snorkl. The goal is to create feedback that reflects their own unique instructional voice\, expectations\, and evaluative criteria.
